Luke2

1And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

2(And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

3And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

4And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

5To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

6And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

7And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

8And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

15And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

16And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

17And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

18And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

19But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

20And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

Kolby @ The Capitol

Kolby and I had a great time at the State Capitol Building in Pierre on Friday.  We got to see the Christmas trees and chase the geese around.  We sang along to Relient K's Christmas album all the way to Pierre and she slept most of the way back.  I was going to take her out for one of Pierre's finest plates of Mac and Cheese, but she wanted Chicken Nuggets so I went with her on that.

Last night when I tucked her in she said, "Daddy, I love you...sing '5 Golden Rings' to me."  She MELTED me again.

Little girls own their daddys.

(By the way Grandmas, if you want to purchase the below photo of Kolby on the Capitol steps for hanging in your house it would be beautiful in a 10x30 Studio Mount...this and any other photos from Daddy/Daughter Day are available for purchase through your friendly representatives at LakeHaus Productions!  YES, you get the grandma discount!)

Out of the Comfort Zone.

I think it is good for kids and parents to get out of their comfort zone...like Maxim who usually would be happy to play Legos and Star Wars in the quiet of his room, but 3 or 4 times a week he straps on his hockey "armor" and works up a sweat with his teammates on the ice.  Steph has been pushing her comfort zone as well, she usually just verbally helps with the creative process at LakeHaus Productions and I would do the designing.  This Christmas season every card that is going out of the door is a Stephanie Glanzer original.  She designed all of them except one and that was a redesign of a card I built a few years ago.  Kolby's comfort zone is pushed by actually making her play with toys most girls play with and getting her out of pajamas by 11:30 a.m. every day.

Brecken is pretty much an All-Around...he is comfortable in a lot of situations and is able to adapt to what is going on and fits in almost instantly.  He has also been a bit on the naughty side lately...Maxim would say that Brecken is falling into the "ways of the Dark Side." (think Darth Vader voice there)  So with all that has been going on we decided to give Brecken a little one on one attention at least once a week...believe me he gets it way more than that, but this will be special...so from tonight on Brecken and I will go to wrestling practice on Tuesday nights, and every once in a while we will catch a Thursday night practice as well.

I will tell you that I only know wrestling from what I learned while covering it while I was a TV anchor.  I do remember the first ever wrestling match I went to I had no idea what was going on, how to score it or why there weren't any "turnbuckles" or "ropes" around the wrestling mats.

So Brecken and I will be trying out a new venture together...way our of our comfort zones.  He is scared, he will be nervous and he will probably cling to my leg for 2 or 3 weeks, but I think it will fit him just right....I won't let him know, but I'll probably have a few of the same feelings he does the first few weeks.
